The Knight's Return

Wounded mettle ,dented armor,
Feeble horse to ride,
Sight of the castle , and his beloved;
Spurred and tore the horse's hide!

 

 

Years again had elapsed since ~
His beloved ;when they met;
Falling sieges ; His dying men;
Losing battles unfelt!!

Wicked Witch 's evil charm ,
Had now found the perfect mark ~
Princess's dream to be a ruler now~
Gnawed her soul like shark !!

 

 

It happened one day while she groomed her hair, The Evil Witch, in native woman's dress
Appeared in her mirror, Startled to see the Witch instead ;
In the mirror one fine day , Princess dumbly traded her soul ;
For the lands,this and others to rule she dreamt!

 

An evil Brew ~ Witch concocted ~
Was meant for the gallant Knight;
Passed to his heart when he kissed
From then on , charms governed the plight !

The sky had rumbled and the wind had howled;
To warn the Knight in vain,
Far above the sky so high,
Angels were in pain!

Hovering darkness had palled the castle;
With thick clouds of a nightmare's gloom,
Pain in heart but love in soul;
Perception failed at doom!

 

Drunken stupor, lecherous kerns;
Loitering in the castle free ~
Sight of the knight and the dented armor,
Set their laughter free.

Knight but smiled ,dazed as he;
Looked all over for his Princess,
Spear in hand! burning looks ~
The Princess stood in a warrior's dress.
~ "Noble Princess, my beloved,
What reflects your attire?
Where is love where is warmth ?
Where is all I desire ?"

- "Fool of a man !! Yet woman born,
You slave of destiny!
Time has come for you to die,
For you are my sworn Enemy!!
This Is I O' Noble Prince.
I the dark queen you banished
Look at me you, drunk with love;
It is I your fate's defeat!!

Violent thunder shook the ground,
Matched with the Knight's horrific shock!
Voice he heard meant Evlyn the Witch;
Possessed Princess not his beloved, this is fate havoc!!

 

War like men dragons too, added ,
Witch had rebelled against the Kingdom ~
Dragons fled with tails missing ,
Her men added to martyrdom !

The Knight ~ Witch blamed ~ yelled at him !
"You hinder my desire !!
Conquer the the Kingdom my only dream ;
Burnt always with Knight hood fire!!

 

Come meet your death at a beloved's hand !"
She meant the well intended pun .
With a flash of a lightening ,
the spear she held she flung!!

 

Though Dented armor, bore the impact .
Spear had struck his chest ;
Pain he felt was no greater than,
A burnt and a shattered heart !!

 

Appalled at at dreams that lay shattered, Great pain in heart the Knight felt
But the in his mind the great warrior, Flashed in action, love rebelled!
Sword he sheathed , now for long , Flashed in action lightening~
Slaves of evil - her war like men , Many fell before he fled to safety .

Deep inside a snow clad Ruin ~
The Knight retired to remorse .

A childish weep , with none to hear ~
He cried too for his dead horse !

Tired soul , weary heart! Had NO time to rest .
The Witch sent dragon found him soon,
Putting his mettle to test , He fought again...
Not for long, putting the Dragon to doom!

 

High above the skies , an Angel ~
Watched the land with tears ,

None to help a fallen hero -
This is the time when Angels cry,
Fate awakened her fears !

This is not a war of swords,
Nor spear or war ordinary.

Magic with Magic needs to fight!
Darkness dwells and needed of Light
The evil brew, that deminish the Knight
Needs to cure, that too with no tarry.

 

 

Dressed as a Highland Lass ,so common ;
She walked to the Knight battle worn,
She managed to groom her dark night hair

To Gold, to console the Knight,
love struck's despair.
An helping advice she offered him ;
"A Dragon fell for more to come "

 

Rise O ' Knight ! You need not fall ,
Down upon your Knees - -
What you bear yet unknown to you ;
It is an evil that is sought !"

A Cure she had along with her ,
Removing her veil she handed it -
Unknown to them yet again ;
A pair of eyes watched them there in .

~ ~ ~

~" Drink This and be free O' Knight ;
From that witch's Evil spell - -
Go Pick that sword
And sharpen it more ;
Go !! Fight and unleash hell !! "

 

The spy returned and the news he broke; The Witch's spell had broken
Cursing high in the Devil's name ~ Yes !! She was truly shaken !!

Not far away , the Knight now free;
Turned the Ruin to Fort .

Realization dawned on him
The Princess possessed, was Witch Evilyn

Distant land not home any more
The might second home, apart she tore.

Once he came, make land rebel free.
It was all Evilyn, Now he sees!

Gathering so, his still small army;
Prepare for battle, he thought only!

 

 

Frenzied Witch with her dragons at tow ,
Raised a terrible siege ~
Men on horses under the gallant Knight
Fought a battle pitched!

 

 

 

 

 

The war goes on ~
Both sides count the bodies ..
Love lost Knight , a burning fury ,
Turns the field even gory!

 

Far above the sky so high , Angels now anxiously peep ,
The Knight with sword now says, "Dragons to slay and Miles to go before I sleep!! "

Thanks for the overwhelming response that I received for " THE KNIGHT AND THE PRINCESS " and that encouraged me to proceed with the " KNIGHT'S RETURN ". This is not the end! I tried my best to keep the flow and the tone of this ballad as integrated as possible but still as this story goes on I find that there are new chain of events being added. The Knight has to fight and the fate of the Princess and the witch is still un decided !
I would eagerly welcome your comments and and suggestions . Yes, getting imgaes to match the story is also a big challenge!!
